What are NCR or Carbonless Forms or Non Carbon Copy Paper Used for?

NCR forms generate quick copies of an original document, so they are popular in the world of business.  NCR forms are frequently used for contracts, invoices, sales receipts, requisitions, work orders, purchase orders, delivery documents, medical and insurance forms, employment applications, proposals, Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA) Forms, Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA) Forms, Bill of Ladings, Tool Box Talk, Daily Work Reports, Time Sheets, Rental Tickets, Purchase Orders, Near Miss Reports, Voice Cards.

What is NCR?

NCR stands for No Carbon Required, also known as carbonless copy paper (CCP), or non-carbon copy paper.  NCR or No Carbon required paper is printed on a offset press with oil based inks, water and printing plates to create and Image (could be text or graphic) so a user does not have to rewrite or design a form every time he or she needs to record information from their client.  Once the paper is printed it’s set on the shelf to dry.  Later it’s glued in sets, so a 2 part form will only have two pages and a 5 part form will have 5 pages.  Once the gluing process is complete the forms is crash numbered if sequence numbering is required.  Once numbering is completed the sets are counted and booked.  Most common booking setup’s are 25 sets to a book, 30 sets to a book and 50 sets to a book.

How does NCR Form Work?

Let’s take 2 part form as an example.

The top sheet being white is written on with a pen and should be press hard so Micro-Encapsulated dye coating that at the back of the white sheet is transferred on Reactive Clay layer which is coated on the top of the second page. This process is repeated once again on a three part NCR Form and repeated Twice more four part carbonless form.
